Located in the Henan province of China, the city of Luoyang is home to Show Hope’s flagship Care Center, better known as Maria’s Big House of Hope. With more than 6.5 million inhabitants, Luoyang is one of the Four Great Ancient Capitals of China, lying just south of the Yellow River.
Five years ago, the doors to Maria’s Big House of Hope were opened and Show Hope began providing love and medical care for orphans with special needs. Since that time, this big blue house, along with Show Hope’s three other Care Centers, have cared for more than 1600 children.
Maria’s Big House of Hope was named in honor of Maria Sue Chapman, the daughter of Show Hope founders, Mary Beth and Steven Curtis Chapman. Six years after Maria’s death, her legacy continues to transform the lives of orphans with special needs. The sights and sounds of laughing children that echo throughout the hallways of Maria’s Big House of Hope are very much a glimpse of God’s redemption…of his bringing beauty from ashes.
Maria’s Big House of Hope is home to more than 140 children at a time. It serves as the hub through which Show Hope provides a loving family atmosphere and comprehensive medical care, including physician oversight and surgeries.
Each year, Show Hope organizes several trips for sponsors and students to volunteer at Maria’s Big House of Hope. This year, our volunteers helped to build a brand new rooftop playground!
Show Hope is so blessed by the generosity of our sponsors and donors. Through this life-giving support, we are able to provide love and medical care to so many children in need.
